The botanical gardan of Leuven is the oldest in belgium (1738).
This one was initially planted for de medecine students of Leuven.
The first scientific gardens were gardens packed with herbs, from which many are healing.
Hereof stems the name 'De Kruidtuin' (Or 'The Herbgarden') .
Later on this gardens were filled with more aesthetic beautiful plants.
