If You Can Dream It,...

... You Can Achieve It! - Oprah :)
Someday, if I ever get my drivers license & have earned Mucho Dinero
I will buy a car with a matte paint job.
Idealy one of the models below in matte black,
But maybe for my first car I should aim just a little bit lower...

Cadillac Eldorado

 Rolls Royce Phantom Matte Black

Chevrolet Impala 1969

Maybach Exelero

And hopefully this doesn't happen to me while driving!

DIY Pimped Earrings

I took some old earrings and used nailpolish to add some color to them.

These are the polishes I used:

Two Tone Nailart

Very easy nailart!
You need: a basecoat, 2 different polishes, some tape, and a topcoat.

Lyfe Jennings Soul

Lyfe Jennings was incarcerated from when he was 19 until the age of 29 for arson.
In prison he was in the music program and after his release he won
the amateur contest at the Apollo Theater in Harlem, New York.
In 2010 he was sentenced again to 3 and a half years in prison after an altercation
with his ex-girlfriend and lead police on a high-speed car chase.
Despite of his rough life he makes some really soulful and inspirational music.
I don't really like the video for 'If Tomorrow Never Comes',
but I do love every song he makes!

DIY Skull Cut Off Jeans

I started with an old jeans I got at H&M men's department,
but it had a weird fit so I didn't wear it alot.

How To:
1. Cut off legs, and fold hem
2. Draw skull on piece of fabric from one of the cut off legs
3. Cut out skull
4.  Iron skull on back pocket with sticky tape, normally used to
hem (skirts for example) without sewing.

At first I wanted to cut out a Día de los Muertos type of skull,
but eventually I went with the more simple design,
because all those little pieces are more difficult to attach with the tape.
I Love how it turned out,
I'll bet I will wear those jeans much more now!
Maybe after a while I will handsew the flowers on the skull.

Sir Ian McKellen in Extra's

Extra's is a British sitcom created by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant,
two of my favorite funnypeople and also creaters of the original 'The Office' UK.
If you havn't seen this show, you really got to check it out!
There are two seasons and a christmas special.
In every episode there is one big celebrity guest star,
often playing a deranged version of themselves.
In this clip Andy Millman auditions for a play directed by Sir Ian McKellen,
to polish his image because his show 'When the Whistle Blows' gets awful reviews,
and people think he's a sellout.

Best Ice Tea Ever

I used 4 types of tea:
- Rosehip
- Lady Grey
- Thé du Hammam, Rooibos
- fruit tea mix

How To:
1. Boil 1L of water with a little bit of baking soda.
2. Take off the fire and add the tea, I used 2 bags of Rosehip and filled a
big tea ball with the other kinds.
3. Take out the tea bags after 10min and add sugar until it tastes good!
4. Before placing the jug in the fridge for about 3 hours I added half a lemon and some mint.

Cranberry Apple Crumble

How To:
1. mix pieces of apple with (dried) cranberries, a little bit of brown sugar and cinnamon
2. for the crumble, mix flower with little pieces of butter until desired consistency
3. pour applemixture into a pie form and sprinle thin layer of crumble on top
4. I put it in the oven for about 20min at 200°C, then I add a
little bit of honey on top and bake it for another 10min.

K-pop/Korean Pop Music

G-Dragon and T.O.P. are two members of the South-Korean boyband Big Bang.
It's kind of an RnB/pop mix, I don't understand half of what they're saying,
but I like it! I think the video is fun but classy.

GD & Top - Baby Good Night

2NE1 is a South-Korean hiphop/pop girlgroup, consisting of 4 members.

Nailart Mix

A couple of nailarts I wore.
For the candy striped one I used Essence Stampy Set,
the others are just with different polishes and a toothpick/bobbypin.
I took the photos with my cellphone, so pretty bad quality!

Survival Bracelet DIY

Survival bracelets are really a way to carry a piece of rope.
Normally these are made with paracord, initially used in US parachutes in World War II.
I looked everywhere but couldn't find any paracord, so I used 2 m climbing rope,
which can cary up to 6.2 kN static force.
But I will keep looking for some paracord, because this has 7 cords in it's core,
therefor a bracelet of 2m really is 14m of rope.
Here you can read some stories about situations where people used their bracelet.
For mine I bought the rope at A.S. Adventure, used a washer and took the closure from
an ugly key chain to hang around your neck.
If you want to make one check out stormdranespbtutorial.blogspot.com,
he has a great tutorial!

I love it! Its chunky and fabolous.
But I think it might look even better with thinner, more flexible paracord.

Queen Latifah Throwback

Some smooth rhymes from Queen Latifah,
both songs are from her 'Black Reign' album, 1993.

U.N.I.T.Y.
A song against the disrespect of women in society.

Just Another Day
Feel good song, reminds me of 'Friday' by Ice Cube.

DIY Skull Cut Out Sweater

I've wanted to make my own DIY skull cut out tee shirt when
I first saw this drawing from Adam Lowe.
There are lots of DIY examples online,
but eventually I went with a little different but supercool design I spotted on runwaydiy.com.
I started with a black sleeveless hoodie from H&M men's department.
The cut out looked weird when I wore the sweater,
so I ironed a patch of fabric on the inside you normally use to restore holes in jeans.

Ideas Worth Spreading

Clip about biomimicry I saw at school last year, very interesting!
Biomimicry is not copying nature directly, it's about being inspired by nature.
It's a powerful way to innovate, by using analogies of principles of nature when they're advantageous in the context you're working in.
This clip is from 2007, but biomimicry is still evolving.
On asknature.org you can type in a problem you want to solve and you get examples of how nature deals with it.

Example of biomimicry
Termites build mounds in which they maintain the temperature inside to within one degree, even if the outside temperature varies from 42°C to 3°C. The Eastgate Building, an office complex in Harare, Zimbabwe, has an air conditioning system modeled after this principle of termite building. Eastgate uses 90% less energy for ventilation than conventional building its size.

DIY Ikea Skirt

I bought some really cheap curtain fabric at Ikea (about $ 3),
cut out a front and back panel that I sewed together.
Put in a zipper and added some darts at the back to improve te fit, et voila!

Choco Prince Petit Beurre Cake

For this delicious no-oven-cookie/cake you'll need:
- cookies, originally petit beurre cookies, but you can make it with whatever you want.
- some cooled down chocolate milk or coffee of a mixture of both
- soft butter mixed with powdered suger until the desired taste, don't use normal sugar,
makes it really unpleasent cake to eat because you don't actually bake it.
I also add cinnamon and vanilla essence to this.
- box of sprinkles (you'll need lots) to decorate or you can also make a glaze
with sugar, water and some food color.

Now you just dip a cookie in the chocolate milk/coffee until the cookie
absorbed it all the way through and becomes a bit weak,
then you put it on a plate (or some baking paper).
Next thing is a layer of the butter-sugar mixture, I prefer a thin layer.
Then you soak another cookie and keep building until prefered height.
You end with a cookie, and some decoration you want.
I covered the entire 'tower' in butter-sugar mixture and added sprinkled that stick to it.
But you can also make a chocolate glaze or standard sugar glaze and decorate with candy.
traditionally this cake is made in a rectangular shape (due to the shape of
the petit beurre cookies), but I've also made one in a heart shape by cutting
the rectangular cake after building (so the cookies are moist and don't break as easy)
and topped it with hot pink frosting and different kinds of pink candy.
